At the fishing port of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, board the “Mephisto” or the “Fisherman’s Friend” and leave the port in search of mackerel, sea bass and other fish…
Embark on an old longliner refurbished for passengers and go for a fishing trip off St Gilles Croix de Vie. Lines and bait are provided and if you are lucky you will be able to hook mackerel, bass, conger eels… and maybe you will have the pleasure to see the beautiful dolphins that are quite frequently seen off shore.
On these same boats you can also opt for a sea trip.
From the fishing port of St Gilles Croix de Vie, as you leave the channel, you will admire the Josephine Tower, the buoy and the rock of Pilhours, the lighthouse of Grosse Terre…
then you will go along the coast to admire the Trou du diable and the 5 Pineaux, another way to discover our magnificent region which is the Vendée and its rocky coast from St Hilaire de Riez to St Gilles Croix de Vie.
On the river side, Les balades de la Vie offer you the opportunity to embark on the Aigrette to discover the fauna and flora by going up the river “la Vie” inside the marshes to the Barrage des Vallées.
You can also choose the guided tour of the ports of St Gilles Croix de Vie, discovering the marina and the fishing port by sailing among the boats present.
These walks at sea or in the marshes will allow you to better understand the marine heritage and the rich diversity of the fauna and flora of St Hilaire de Riez and St Gilles Croix de Vie.
